Steel Domain History

Steel Domain Wrestling (SDW) was founded by Ed Hellier and originally worked under the name of St. Paul Championship Wrestling (SPCW).  The first event occurred on January 17th, 1998 and was a success.  Without television exposure and promotion, the first event drew 600 fans, thanks to former AWA Champion and WWE Hall of Fame inductee Nick Bockwinkel who has served as an advisor to Hellier's group.

From 1999 through 2000, SPCW thrilled wrestling fans by presenting some of the best wrestling since the glory days of the AWA.  While SPCW was making its mark in the Twin Cities, a name change was in the works and in January 2001, St. Paul Championship Wrestling changed its name to Steel Domain Wrestling.

The effort was to create a less regional feel to the company as over the air television opportunities became available.  SDW's "Ringside" aired on KSTC 45 over a four year period from October of 2001-October of 2005.  "Ringside" was the first local television wrestling program since the AWA's "All Star Wrestling" show.

The voice of Steel Domain Wrestling is "Slick" Mick Karch whose name is synonymous with both Minnesota wrestling and SDW.  Mick was the voice of Vern Gagne's AWA TV during its ESPN days.

SDW Triple Crown Champion
Many top name wrestlers have graced the presence of Steel Domain Wrestling and only one has been the Triple Crown Champion.  Adrian Lynch is SDW's only Triple Crown Champion in its 15-year history.  He has held the SDW Heavyweight, Televsion, and Tag Team Championship belts on numerous occasions.

Lynch has been a mainstay for over a decade with SDW and means one thing:  "Lynch equals ratings."
