Steel Domain Wrestling (SDW) is the second longest running professional wrestling promotion in Minnesota as the legendary AWA holds the title as the longest ever. An impact has been made, SDW founder "The Architect" Ed Hellier has carefully built his organization into a success.
The first match was held on January 17th, 1998. The original working name of the organization was St. Paul Championship Wrestling and worked under that title until 2001. It was at that point it changed its name to Steel Domain Wrestling.
SDW's "Ringside" first aired on 45 KSTC and had a solid four-year run from October 2001 through October 2005. It was the first local professional wrestling program to air on television since the AWA's "All-Star Wrestling" show.
Currently, SDW released its weekly online program titled "Championship Wrestling from the Twin Cities." It features "old school" studio wrestling with interviews like the old days of the AWA. The website includes podcasts, video highlights, live streaming, news and information.
SDW continues to push the envelope in professional wrestling and released the critically acclaimed "All Access - The 8th Level" mini series in August of 2014. The three-part mini-series posted on the website and is now available on DVD.
The voice of Minnesota professional wrestling, Mick Karch, provides the steady play-by-play account of the matches and was the voice of Vern Gagne's AWA TV during the ESPN days. Currently, Mick is a co-host with Hellier and Pete Waggoner on Steel Domain Radio and is a driving force in the companies day-to-day actives.
Many international stars began their careers here in Steel Domain Wrestling, Adam Pearce, Colt Cabana, Ace Steel, Austin Aries, Ken Anderson, TNA Knockout ODB, and, CM Punk WWE's longest running Champion in WWE history!
